I’ve had the pleasure of working with the lovely Vanessa of Made By Pure Hands several times from headshots at her therapy room and in the park to a personal branding shoot at Mayfield Lavender Farm, south of London and product photography in my Forest Hill studio.
Vanessa recognises the importance of photography to show her professionalism, authenticity and personality so that she can connect with her audience and ultimately help grow her business. As a small business owner, the face of the business and the brand, Vanessa knows that it is essential to build a personal rapport with her audience and market since people like to buy from people they know, like and trust.
The preparation for each shoot is what makes the shoot a success. Before each shoot, we discussed Vanessa’s business and how she works, her ideal clients, the types of images she wanted, what she wanted to convey and came up with a plan for how we were going to achieve it along with ideas on what to wear and any props that would required.

Vanessa has very clear ideas on what she wants to achieve and always provides a detailed brief to help our shoots run smoothly particularly when I’m photograph Vanessa’s aromatherapy products on my own at my Forest Hill studio. It’s the attention to detail that helps us to achieve the photography to tell the story of Vanessa’s aromatherapy and massage business and increase engagement with her audience.

Vanessa is an Aromatherapist, Massage Therapist and Product Maker in South London, working at Bellenden Therapies and various events and for private organisations around London offering a range of massage and aromatherapy treatments including pregnancy massage and onsite chair massage. She has been a qualified Massage Therapist for 5 years and an Aromatherapist for 7 years but her experience of using essential oils and making products goes back more than 16 years. Vanessa is very passionate about the many benefits and healing powers of essential oils.
