Meet Alice Luetchford

Ski Racer and Mountain Painter

Alice is a person who is truly following her dreams and I couldn’t be happier for her. But don’t be lured into thinking it’s all fun and games. While Alice’s career might take her to stunning mountain tops and alpine locations, it’s been years of dedication and determination that has got her there and not without her fair share of setbacks and obstacles. You can read all about Alice’s story of mountain painting and her inspiring ski racing journey here.

I had the pleasure of working with Alice after she got in contact to discuss a personal branding photoshoot to promote her mountain painting and new fine art prints and print products she was introducing. As it’s Alice’s ambition to paint and ski race full time, she was looking to up her profile and increase her visibility as a painter and realised that a personal branding photoshoot was just the place to start.

Collaborative planning & preparation

After an initial discovery call, Alice and I set to work on planning her shoot. The first step was to learn more about Alice through an in depth questionnaire form. The questionnaire responses formed the basis of a shotlist that I drafted for our next discussion. While Alice already had a good idea of the shots that she wanted, the questionnaire responses enabled me to offer some additional ideas and get a good grasp on what Alice was trying to convey.

During a second call we went over the proposed shotlist and brainstormed what props would be required for each shot, where it each photo would be taken and also planned what Alice would wear in each shot. All the preparation ensures that the shoot day runs smoothly while still giving space for spontaneity.

The shotlist makes for a really handy checklist on shoot day!

Ready, steady, shoot

By the time the shoot came along, Alice and I were well acquainted with each other from the planning session and learning all about each other. With the use of the shotlist, we smoothly worked our way through all the shots that Alice wanted and even managed some hoped for appearances with the cats.

A library of story telling images

In keeping with Alice’s goals, we succeeding in capturing a vast range of photos that Alice will use on her website, social media and promotion of her painting including images of Alice in her work place from many angles, in action at her easel, with several of her paintings and in a range of clothing to provide variety to her photos.

Kind words from Alice

“Working with Tricia has been wonderful. She put me at ease in front of the camera (which wasn’t easy!) and created photographs that were even better than I’d anticipated or hoped for. She was extremely professional and did a lot of work prior to the session to make sure that we got all the shots we needed to, and was creative in setting up the room for the best results. Not only would I work with Tricia again, I’m wanting to make it an annual occurrence (at least!). Thank you so much Tricia!”

It was a treat to spend the time with Alice and see her stunning paintings up close. I wish Alice and James all the best on their quest for representing Team GB and hope that Alice’s painting career flourishes and enables her to support their ski racing. I’m sure you’ll agree that she is a very talented artist and her stunning paintings bring the mountains to people’s lives.
